Many medical educators, scholars, and leaders have voiced a need to address inequities. But we assert that our policies, environments, and curricula in medical education will continue to reproduce and maintain inequities until we first illuminate and then dismantle such unjust structures.
Even still, dismantling unjust structures is just the first step. The even more difficult step is to rebuild structures without falling into familiar patterns of injustice.
